President's New Year Message
It has been a fantastic year. We hosted the Queensland Open and had a Grand Master in the field in Bundaberg for the first time ever. We have a new chess community in Bargara affiliated to the club and their base, the Bargara Golf Club, was the venue for our first Christmas dinner in years. It was a very nice meal well attended in a sociable environment; and of course chess was played.
School coaching will continue next year with the standard of coaches raised by the addition of a former Queensland champion to the roster. The teaching should be facilitated by the use of our electronic DGT boards which were obtained through the Community Benefit Fund.
The Sunday Junior Grand Prix will continue next year, starting 24/02/19 and with some of our junior stars no longer eligible there will be a new name on the leader board. The February date will be confirmed on the web site and in the schools.
Bundaberg is represented on the CAQ council by the President who has the position of Regional Liaison Officer.
Join us at one of our venues in the New Year.
